Get to know your dog's Nirvana family
Your dogs know him as "Best Friend Mike"
Michael started working at Nirvana when searching for his next career path. He knew it included dogs and found his way home to Nirvana. His passion for dogs in infectious which is why he was chosen as the successor of Nirvana Pet Resort.
When he's not in the shop you will find Mike spending time with his wife and their dogs, enjoying a concert, or exploring the hidden camping gems BC has to offer.
In-house Groomer Extraordinaire
Shannon is the owner and operator of Paws 4 Grooming, Nirvana's in-house grooming studio.
You can definitely trust your pet's next "fur-do" in her capable hands. She enjoys spending time with each animal during their grooming session and looks forward to their return.
I grew up on a farm in Ontario and though we had several animals I was mainly exposed to horses. My passion for the animal industry compelled me in my late teen years when our family dog became ill at 10 weeks old with antifreeze poisoning, with a 4% chance of survival he survived and just celebrated his 11th birthday.
From there I started working at an animal hospital where I remained for over 4 years learning the ins and outs of behavior, veterinary medicine and grooming. I went on to groom in several privately owned shops, operating my own home based salon, and working in a corporate setting which brought me out to Vancouver Island. I currently teach a grooming academy and have successfully graduated 4 students in the past few years whom have all gone on to lead successful careers in the industry.
I have two dogs of my own, Morgan and Renfrew who often come to play in Nirvana's daycare while I'm busy pampering your pets!
My passion from a young age has been spending time with dogs and other animals; I adore nothing more! I love working with dogs (and cats), and still can't believe that this is my job. Working with dogs is always an adventure, and I find that I'm constantly learning something new every day from our furry friends.
In the future, I aspire to take a pet grooming course, and look forward to advancing my career with animals in that field.
My favourite part of my day is coming in and saying "hi" to each dog individually. It really does start your day off right to be greeted by dozens of wet noses and wagging tails. It's my personal goal to make sure each dog feels comfortable, loved, and entertained each day at daycare.
I couldn't be happier to be part of the Nirvana Pet Resort team!
Kaitlyn has joined our team after moving to BC from Alberta. She is loving her west coast experience. She currently owns 2 cuddly kittens and recently adopted her spunky and sweet dog Tina. She enjoys spending time with each animal who comes through our doors and wins each of them over easily..

You might see Kirsten pop in from time to time. More than just Mike's wife, she's usually behind the scenes helping where needed, playing with or taking photos and videos of the pups, or assisting Mike in the office.
